Martin Property Development is seeking an experienced, collaborative Construction Superintendent to support our team in the Traverse City area for the duration of the Project.
Key Responsibilities
The Construction Superintendent will oversee the project from ground-up construction to final completion. Responsibilities to include:
• Plan, manage, coordinate, and supervise all phases of the construction process from site development through final acceptance.
• Read, interpret, and implement construction documents including blueprints and plan readings. Generate RFI’s as required.
• Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices
• Produce and maintain project and construction schedules, identify and resolve project related issues.
• Manage and coordinate manpower for subcontracted trade work.
• Order materials as necessary throughout the project.
• Monitor the progress, performance, and quality of all subcontractors’ work.
• Maintain electronic daily field reports documenting staffing, deliveries, photos, visitors, significant events, etc.
• Schedule and manage all required project inspections.
• Distribute weekly written schedules to subcontractors and suppliers to maintain the overall project schedule.
• Hold weekly subcontractor meetings to review planning, scheduling, quality control and safety issues.
• Prepare, schedule, and oversee the completion of final punch lists.
• Encourage safe work practices and resolve any site hazards that may occur.
• Enforce OSHA standards for subcontractors and work site associates.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.

Minimum Job Requirements
• 5-10 years of experience as a Project Superintendent in the construction industry, with ground-up experience.
• Experience with full site development including earthwork, utilities, concrete and pavements.
• Expertise managing projects in excess of $5 million.
• Ability to ensure timely completion of projects within a given budget.
• Fluency understanding building plans, specifications, and contractor scopes of work.
• Excellent team management and leadership skills including goal setting and conflict management.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with owner’s representatives, architects, engineers, and government officials.
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification required.
• In-depth understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Outlook, and Excel.
• Must have valid driver’s license and own transportation.
• Certified lift operator.
